Recommended Cleaning, Sterilisation & Care Instructions
Proper cleaning, sterilisation and maintenance are essential to preserve the precision, cutting efficiency, surface finish and service life of your orthodontic instruments.
Do not allow blood, saliva, debris or other contaminants to dry on the instrument. Clean instruments promptly after every use.
Use a good-quality pH-neutral cleaning solution suitable for stainless-steel dental instruments. Avoid highly acidic, alkaline or corrosive chemicals.
Hard or contaminated water may leave deposits and contribute to staining or corrosion.
Where appropriate, use a quality ultrasonic cleaner with a compatible instrument-cleaning solution. Follow the solution manufacturer’s recommended concentration and cycle.
After cleaning, rinse instruments thoroughly to remove all traces of cleaning solution and debris.
Instruments must be completely dry before being placed in the steriliser. Residual moisture may contribute to staining or corrosion.
Pliers and hinged instruments should be sterilised in the open/unlocked position to allow proper sterilisation and avoid unnecessary stress on the joint.
Sterilise according to the instrument’s instructions for use and the validated cycle of your sterilisation equipment. Do not exceed the recommended temperature, pressure or exposure time.
Protect delicate tips and cutting edges from contact with other instruments during cleaning, sterilisation and storage.
Never clean precision instruments with steel wool, wire brushes or aggressive abrasives, as these may damage the protective surface finish.
Apply a medical/dental instrument lubricant suitable for sterilisation to joints and moving parts as recommended. This helps maintain smooth movement and prolong instrument life.
Cutting pliers must only be used for the wire type and maximum diameter specified for that instrument. Cutting material beyond the recommended capacity may permanently damage the cutting edges and is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Check the instrument for damage, corrosion, loose joints, misalignment or deterioration of cutting edges before clinical use.
After sterilisation, allow instruments to dry completely and store them in a clean, dry environment protected from moisture and corrosive chemicals.
